As many of our athletes go off to college they continue their water polo careers which have taken them all over the state of Florida and even up to Pennsylvania playing at either the club or NCAA Division I level.
Locally at the University of Central Florida, many of our SEP athletes are playing club water polo. Katie Britton plays a major role on the UCF Women's Water Polo's A Team. In fact, she helped her team make it to the Collegiate Water Polo Association's 2017 National Championship and placed 5th there. Also playing for UCF, Vitoria Artmann is a leader on the UCF Women's Water Polo's B Team and is moving up to the A Team this upcoming season. Two of our SEP athletes are also on the UCF Men's Water Polo Team. Jordan LeGrand and Ryan Engle helped the UCF Men's Water Polo Team place 2nd in their region last fall.
In Gainesville, some of our athletes are playing on the University of Florida Women's Water Polo Team. Sierra Leete, Katie VanDeventer, and Leeana Peters played their last season of collegiate water polo and are moving on to bigger things. Leeana has med school in her sights, Sierra is going to get her Masters in Medical Sciences at the University of South Florida, and Katie is going to spend 27 months in Cameroon doing work for the Peace Corps. Hannah Zeffern and Julia Richter also played and helped their team place 3rd in their region this past spring. Sierra also received First Team All Conference for the CWPA Southeast Division.
Up in Tallahassee at Florida State University, Olivia Leete is playing on FSU Women's Water Polo Team. She helped her team secure 4th place in their region this past fall and also made Second Team All Conference for the CWPA Southeast Division.
All of the way in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania our very own Jacquez Stewart just completed his first year of playing NCAA Division I water polo at La Salle University. Throughout their season, they won three games and lost twelve. But even as a freshman, Jacquez was a huge power on the team.
SEP can't wait to see how our collegiate players will continue their water polo careers. This upcoming year, Carly Zeffren (going to UF), Nick Bottomley (going to FSU), and Keaton Forgue (going to Virginia Military Institute) are planning to continue their water polo careers playing on club teams at their respective schools. Belen Ehinger is going to Arizona State University and will be trying to make the Varsity roster there. Bryce Nguyen is attending ivy league, University of Pennsylvania, on a full academic scholarship. Lainie Morris will be attending Furman University on a full Presidential scholarship. And Sarah Brouillard will be continuing her academic career in nursing as well as reffing high school water polo games in the Central Florida area. Tom McCormick is planning on going to the University of North Florida.
